FACE
Among the series of works I have been working on for over a decade, my Face series, which incorporate layers of multicultural visual elements on the large face portrait, have been the most important signature work of mine, and these works have been collected by over 100 various collectors around the world. My Face paintings are my translation of Eastern tradition and philosophy. I engraved the symbolic universes onto the human faces to represent the philosophy that the intuitive and introspective concept of self is united within the whole of the creation. In Taoist and Buddhist tradition Mandalas have been produced to depict symbolic pictures of the universe and as an aid to meditation. Mandalas can also be visualized in the pure emptiness during meditation. They are described as a symbolic world of reality, which does not exist physically, but exists beyond time and space. When viewing my Face series, you will see the melding of self and creation as Mandalas taking the form of waves, flowers, and animals, self and the natural world around us. Through this series of paintings, I hope the viewer will have an opportunity for self-reflection and unification and give people a means of discovering a self-awareness in a multicultural world.
