My figurative paintings reflect these notions of recasting cultural presumptions through the juxtaposition of various cultures, self-images and cultural assumptions that wrestle with the mystic symbolism of Eastern thought: a philosophy that celebrates the intrinsic bond between man and nature. Using the form and power of realism I am able to convey context while offering the viewer opportunity for self-reflection and unification. 

In my mixed-media paintings, I incorporate multiple layers of newspaper and literature, which are written in various languages such as English, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, and Korean. Through superposition of various images, my mixed-media series question the authenticity of cultural identity in our contemporary world.
